Gateway

Arches National Park near Moab, Utah is a huge area punctuated by petrified dunes, balanced rocks and, of course, arches. I find it one of the most awe-inspiring places in the country because of its other-worldly beauty. You almost feel as if you've stepped onto an alien world. Alien Landscape

Hiking through Arches National Park in Utah, one is struck by the other-worldly appearance of much of the landscape features. I felt black and white helped convey this sense. By including the moon I wanted viewers to take a moment to consider that this may be a view from an alien planet, looking back toward Earth. Image By: Kelly Ford

Cameron Bridge

Spanning the Little Colorado River in Arizona, the Cameron Suspension Bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1911. When built, it was the longest suspension span west of the Mississippi River. While it almost collapsed in 1937 (from sheep as crazy as that sounds), it still looks beautiful today. I love the lines of all suspensions bridges, but this one is particularly attractive as it stands in stark contrast the desert beyond. Image By: Kelly Ford
